Shaun M. Jones, CFS, CFP® is a Wealth Consultant and Associate Partner at Diamond State Financial Group, based in Newark, Delaware. Shaun started with the firm in 2001 and as an Associate Partner is one of the advisors responsible for shaping the company’s direction. With the help of Shaun’s leadership, Diamond State Financial Group has become one of the largest independent financial services firms within the Securian Network. Shaun has recently continued that progress by opening a second office in the Providence, RI area.

Shaun has specialized in assisting physicians, business owners, real estate investors and developers for the last 10 years and his guidance has been critical in helping them overcome the financial challenges unique to their respective fields.

In fact, the main benefit of Shaun opening the office in Providence, RI was the ability to bring awareness of the benefits of Delaware’s tax laws to the northeastern states.

Shaun has been distinguished by the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), The Premier Association of Financial Professionals® which recognizes the top 1% of financial advisors worldwide, as one of the industry’s leading advisors.

Shaun is a graduate of the University of Delaware and has been awarded the Certified Fund Specialist (CFS) designation by the Institute of Business and the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation by the Institute of Financial Planning (IFP). Individuals certified by the IFP have taken the extra step to demonstrate their professionalism by voluntarily submitting to the rigorous CFP® license process that includes demanding education, examination, experience and ethical requirements. He believes that a common misconception amongst consumers is that all financial planners are “certified.” Only those who have fulfilled the license and renewal requirements of the Institute of Financial Planning can display the CFP® licensee marks. Once certified, CFP® practitioners are required to maintain technical competence, fulfill ethical obligations, and stay current with developments in the financial planning profession each year.

Personal
Shaun is the Founder and Director of the “Habitat for Humanity Weekend in Sussex County,” which has raised over $95,000 for this organization. In his free time Shaun enjoys hunting, competing in sprint-triathlons, and golfing with his wife, Kristen. He is both a former DSSAA State Golf Champion and member of the University of Delaware Men’s Varsity Golf Team. He has since resigned to being an avid bad golfer.
