To give back to our local community during the holiday season, DSFG once again held an item drive competition extravaganza. This year our efforts benefitted the Friendship House which strives to fill gaps in New Castle County for those who are houseless, homeless, and searching for a way home. This year DSFG Associates filled bins with winter coats, socks, food, paper goods, diapers, baby formula and much more and all items were delivered in time for the holidays.
DSFG’s charitable initiative for this year is SL24 UnLocke the Light Foundation. This non-profit is dedicated to unlocking the students’ light by providing resources for those struggling with depression, self-injury, and suicide. Chris Locke, Founder, spoke to our group about mental health awareness, the challenges it presents, and how it can affect anyone. His organization was presented with DSFG’s $10,000 contribution to help SL24 to continue providing mental health services which includes the development of Sean’s House, a safe haven for young adults where they feel welcomed and supported. DSFG will also be involved in supporting their other fund-raising events throughout the year.

CONGRATULATIONS! Christopher Burgos, CFP®, ChFC®, AIF®, CFS, has been named Chief Executive Officer of Diamond State Financial Group (DSFG) in addition to his current role as President and Managing Partner. The Firm was founded by Raymond Bree, Managing Partner, in 1989 with Christopher joining the Firm in 2000. Together, Bree and Burgos built DSFG into the comprehensive financial services firm it is today. They have seen the Firm grow to more than 50 employees that serves Delaware and neighboring states.
During this holiday season and through the cold winter months, it is important to remember that many people in our community are suffering from unemployment, sickness, and loss of their homes. To give back to the community, DSFG employees raised over 1500 food items for the Sunday Breakfast Mission in Wilmington, Delaware! Through a collective effort of food donations, volunteering, and a contribution from the Firm to buy over 400 turkeys, we were able to help feed families in need with a traditional Thanksgiving feast.
Josh Shaver led a team in raising money in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year Campaign. The team included many of Josh’s closest friends, family, and even fellow DSFG colleagues Bryan Radcliff, Keval Nagda, and Hardik Shah. They won the campaign for northern Delaware, raising over $35,000 for LLS research and families battling blood cancers. Sometimes it is nice to hear some good news in the middle of a challenging time for everyone!
